Welcome to The GIA Family

Hi, GIA family!

Every week, there will be a new blog available to help you navigate your life as an actor. I am addressing questions, issues or interests that actors have asked me about over the years, but I want to address what YOU want to know. Please send me a message on our Contact Page and I will do my best to help you. If you have a question, I’m quite sure that many other actors have that same question.

There are some topics that never change and will be of great interest to actors: how to get a role, how to get an agent, how do you join SAG-AFTRA, what is trending in headshots, where should you study. But there are also blogs that will be more complex, such as the future of the actor in the world of AI…are talent agents a dying breed?

I also love coaching child actors – and their parents. Child actors need to be protected physically, emotionally and financially, and my private coaching can help navigate this often-complicated path.

Then some blogs will be related to a current event – the death of an actor, the Academy Awards.

What I blog about comes from several decades of working in the film industry as a producer and casting director. Most of the information relates to industry  standards. Know, however, that the blog will be in my voice, and will reflect my opinions. They are my opinions rooted in truths that I have found during years of trial and error.

For the most part, my  blogs will be family-friendly,  but  I will address topics that may be difficult in nature, such as finding yourself in a compromising situation in a casting session or on set. I will put a warning at the beginning of the blog, if I feel that there may be a difficult topic.

I embrace all of you for wanting to learn more about your career, your passion, your goals. I support you and I want to give you what you need. Please visit often.

Wishing you my best,
Catrine McGregor
