Despite some controversies surrounding his political views and personal life, his legacy as one of Hollywood’s greatest actors remains intact, and he continues to be celebrated in film history.
I believe that he is probably in the top-10 list of movie stars, in that his personna was greater than the roles he ever played. Some people scoffed at his acting skills, but he was always comfortable just being himself, which is something I tout often.
Wayne was also kind. We may hear about all the divas and big egos, but Jon Wayne was truly kind to those around him and showed gratitude for his fortunate life.
John Wayne passed away on June 11, 1979, but his impact on cinema and popular culture endures, making him a timeless figure in the entertainment industry.
